News for Amateur Radio Operators In and Around Hillsdale County

Well we've done it again!  For at least the third time a restaurant we've frequented for breakfast has closed.  Warner's closed yesterday, although rumor has it that it will be opening again soon under new ownership.  This month we'll have our ham breakfast at the Reading Inn, 137 S Main in Reading (map).  Breakfast will be this Saturday, April 14 at 8am.

The next club meeting will be Thursday, April 19 at 7pm at Hillsdale High School in room 131.  Use the north entrance (by the generator), taking Bacon Street to Hornet Drive, then turning left into the parking lot that long ago was the tennis courts.  This month the program will be guest speaker Larry Camp WB8R, ARRL Michigan Section Manager.

At the meeting we will be voting on four proposed constitution changes that were presented at the March meeting.  To view the proposals, visit the club website at www.hcarc.com and go the 'Club Info' page.  Remember that your dues must be paid for 2012 in order to vote in the April meeting.  You can re-activate your membership by paying your 2012 dues at the meeting.

Field Day will be held at Dan Sprow's house this year.  Stay tuned for further updates.

The FCC has issued a request for comments on emergency communications by amateur radio and impediments to amateur radio communications.  Specifically, they are asking about how CC&R'S (restrictive covenants) may impede hams from providing emergency communications services.  Click here for more information from QRZ.com or here to access the ARRL's web page.

Don't forget to participate in the Monday night net, held weekly at 7pm on the 147.06 repeater.
